Frequently asked questions

What is embroidery?

Embroidery is a technique that involves stitching designs onto fabric using a needle and thread. Embroidery adds texture, colour, and character to your garments, making it a great option for adding logos or other branding elements to an item. It’s generally a more expensive option than screen printing as it’s priced on the thread count, but has a high quality and sophisticated finish.

What is screen printing?

Screen printing is a printing technique that involves transferring ink through a mesh screen onto fabric. Screen printing is typically more versatile than embroidery, suitable for any product and placement and achieving intricate designs with vibrant colours and precise detail. It offers durability and is typically a cheaper option than embroidery.

Do you have to pay a setup fee for embroidery and screen printing?

Yes, both services have a one-time setup fee. For screen printing, this is because a screen of your artwork will need to be created. For embroidery, your artwork will need to be digitised using software that makes the file suitable to run through an embroidery machine.

Is your embroidery and screen printing done in-house?

No, we use trusted suppliers in Sydney. We facilitate the whole process, including design, management and quality control.

Can I buy your products but get them embroidered or screen printed elsewhere?

Absolutely, just make an order via our shop. Call your guy, and tell him Worktones says hello.

If I want different colour artworks, do they count towards the same minimum order quantity?

Unfortunately not, our MOQs apply to one design.

How close can you get the embroidery to my digital artwork?

The process of embroidery is intricate and there is a chance of very slight deviations from your artwork. It adds to the charm!

Can I match a Pantone for my embroidery?

We can work with our makers to find the best matching thread to the Pantone you provide. Alternatively, you can come into our showroom in Surry Hills and choose from our thread options yourself.

What’s for dinner?

We’re thinking spaghetti alle vongole with a pangrattato.
