If you’re taking a trip to Brisbane, one of your primary motivations will be, of course, to eat like royalty. The hospitality offering in the River City have been topping lists and drawing national attention in recent years.
If you’re wondering where to spend your precious Brisvegas time, money and calories, we’ve enlisted some help to put you on the right path.
Introducing Anyday, the acclaimed hospitality group with six venues in Fortitude Valley.
If you haven’t heard of Anyday directly, at least one of their restaurants or bars will ring a bell. Maybe it’s Agnes, the 2023 Gourmet Traveller Best Restaurant of The Year. Then there’s Agnes Bakery and their famous woodfired sourdough and pastries. Just to name one more, there’s the buzzy Thai restaurant on the doorstep of The Calile, sAme sAme.
That is all to say that the crew at Anyday know Brisbane and they’ve kindly hooked us up with some other places that they themselves visit and return to again and again.
Local Guides are brought to you by your friendly concierge, Worktones. We’ve got the plug on the best restaurants, cafes, bars and other gems in the neighbourhood by those who know a thing or two about serving up good times in the area.

What's your go-to when you knock off?
- Bianca - La Macelleria for a gelato ha!
- Jack - Agnes terrace for a dirty vodka martini.
- Mitch - If i've finished baking our bread for the day it's Gorgeous George in Woolloongabba for a bacon burger and a hash brown or two.
- Trixie - Bar Brutus in South Brisbane. It's a buzzy spot to watch the action of Fish Lane.
Where are you eating on a day/night off?
- Bianca - Bar Miette for a glass of chilled red and small plates. For Sunday brunch West End Coffee House followed by a Matcha + mochi at Mountain River Patisserie.
- Jack - Mama Taco.
- Mitch - Kin in Teneriffe! Great coffee and a small menu that covers all bases. Tim and the team do wonderful work! I'm in love with their own almond butter.
- Trixie - Agnes in Fortitude Valley. Hot tip: The bar and terrace is amazing for snacks, cocktails and dessert.
It's staff party time... where would you take the whole team?
- Bianca - Greca and Yoko, always a good time.
- Jack - Doo Pop Bar.
- Mitch - Ben's Burgers for an easy end of week celebratory catch up. Essa, if we're going all out!
- Trixie - Stanley at Howard Smith Wharves. I love an indoor/outdoor venue and the decor is stunning. Peking duck pancakes and champagne for everyone! ;)
You have a 15 minute lunch break... where are you grabbing a quick bite?
- Bianca - Fresh Sushi Co and I order the Kerries soup or they make a special roll - black rice and fresh tuna.
- Jack - Wrapture West End.
- Mitch - Easy one... Pork cotoletta sandwich followed with a dark chocolate wattleseed cookie from Agnes Bakery. ;)
- Trixie - Botanica in Teneriffe. Their salads are fresh and amazing plus they have great baked goods.
Gotta kill time... where are you going window shopping?
- Bianca - James Street.
- Jack - West end, vintage stores like Swop, Brik.
- Mitch - It's dangerous on James street! At Dinosaur Designs or Jardan you'll find something beautiful, made in Australia, from a small gift to a new vase/sculpture for home.
- Trixie - West End's Boundary Street. There is so much character there and tons of things to see. Spend the day going into all the independent and vintage shops, bookstores and more.
